Dr. Wing-Fu Lai currently is an Assistant Professor in School of Life and Health Sciences at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Before he joined LHS, he had pursued his postdoctoral training at Yonsei University in Seoul and at the University of Hong Kong. Dr. Lai has also worked as a faculty member in School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Shenzhen University and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Department of Applied Biology & Chemical Technology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In 2018, he was accredited as Shenzhen Municipal “Overseas High-caliber Personnel” (Category B). Dr. Lai also qualified as a Chartered Chemist by the Royal Society of Chemistry in the UK in 2018, and as a Chartered Biologist by the Royal Society of Biology in 2014. In 2019, Dr. Lai was accrediated as the "High-level Talents" (Category B) in Nanshan District of Shenzhen. 

The focus of his research is to apply both chemical and engineering techniques to develop polymeric materials for biomedical and pharmaceutical applications. Some of his works on materials chemistry and engineering have been published in international journals such as Advanced Functional Materials, Chemistry of Materials, Nanoscale, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, Biomaterials, and Journal of Controlled Release, and have been patented in Korea and the US. He has also authored one monograph (published by Academic Press/Elsevier) on the design and engineering of delivery technologies for the development of biogerontological interventions. Apart from this, Dr. Lai has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for over 30 international journals, including ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Acta Biomaterialia, Ageing Research Reviews, Biomaterials, Biomacromolecules, Journal of Controlled Release, and Journal of Materials Chemistry B.
