Dr. Terry Tao Ye is the Professor at the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK(SZ)), and by courtesy, an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Ye is active in academic research as well as industrial applications in many areas that include VLSI IC Designs, AI Acceleration, Neuromorphic Computing ICs, Flexible Electronics and Devices.
Dr. Ye received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and the Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University (Beijing). He is the recipient of multiple national-level, provincial-level as well as municipal-level talent programs. Before joining CUHK(SZ), Dr. Ye had been the Professor at the Institute of Nanoscience and Applications (INA) of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) since 2017, as well as the Professor at Carnegie Mellon University-SYSU Joint Institute of Engineering since 2014. Prior to his return to academia, he had held various engineering and consulting roles at Impinj Inc., Synopsys Inc., Magma Design Automation Inc., Silicon Architects Inc. and many other Silicon Valley companies. He developed the world’s first UHF RFID transponder chip as well as China’s first low-power, lightweight RFID reader chip designed for mobile platforms. In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Ye is deeply committed to fostering industry–academic collaborations. He is the technical committee member/chair of many IEEE and ISO organizations, serves in the editorial board of numerous journals and conference proceeding publications. He is also the research fellow at the University of Hong Kong and the Chief Scientist of AIM Global (Asia).
