Biography

I have a diverse academic background: originally trained as a Chinese-English translator and interpreter with BA in English from Dalian University of Foreign Languages; then studied English language education and obtained MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and PhD in Education from University of York. My PhD project explored the mediational roles of mobile devices for international students' language and culture learning during study abroad. In addition, I was recognised as the Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK. After graduation, I was employed as Research Fellow at the School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham, which is one of the top pharmacy schools in the world university rankings. My duties included identifying the pedagogical theory and conducting the research study for the innovation learning project funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

I joined the English Language Teaching Unit, School of Humanities and Social Science in July 2018. I am teaching Year 2 English for Academic Purposes and English for Business Communication. Also, I am the Library Liaison of HSS and Library Representative of English Department.
