Prof. Zhang obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Information Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2014, and her Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2018 under the supervision of Prof. Hon Ki Tsang. She continued to work as a postdoctoral fellow in CUHK successively supported by Hong Kong Postdoctoral Hub-Innovation and Technology Fund (PH-ITF) Fellowship and Hong Kong Research Grants Council Postdoctoral Research Fellowship until 2022. She then joined Prof. Pascal Del’Haye’s group at Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light working as a postdoctoral fellow until 2024.
Her research interests include integrated photonic chips and their applications in optical computing, optical sensing, and optical communications. She has published peer-reviewed papers in Nature Communications, Laser & Photonics Reviews, Photonics Research, ACS Photonics, Optics Express, Applied Physics Letters, etc.
News:
Oct. 23 2025: Our collaboration paper about robust turnkey soliton frequency combs using a fiber Fabry-Pérot cavity laser has been published in Opt. Express 33, 46304-46312 (2025) (JCR Q2). This work is expected to advance various microwave photonic applications that demand long-term stability and turnkey performance.
July 3 2025: Our paper about generation and control of higher-order-mode lasers in multimode silicon resonators has been published in ACS Photonics 12, 3457–3464 (2025) (JCR Q1). This work demonstrates Raman-based mode switching, which can find potential applications in high-resolution optical systems and quantum optics.
June 25 2025: Our collaboration paper about monolithic electric field control of a grating coupler for finely tuning wavelength, efficiency, and bandwidth has been published in Optics Letters 50, 4370-4373 (2025) (JCR Q2). This work proposes a PIN-PMN-PTOI based apodized grating coupler.
May. 24 2025: Our collaboration paper about microresonator soliton frequency combs via cascaded Brillouin scattering has been published in Communications Physics 8, 1-5 (2025) (JCR Q1). This work demonstrates forward-propagating soliton frequency combs using cascaded Brillouin scattering in a silica resonator.
Jan. 17 2025: Our paper about integrated optical switches from Kerr symmetry breaking has been published in Photonics Research 13, 360-366 (2025) (Editor’s pick!) (JCR Q1). Our work may provide insights into the development of new types of photonic data processing devices and provide an innovative approach for the future implementation of on-chip optical memories.
Jan. 17 2025: Our collaboration paper about on-chip microresonator dispersion engineering via segmented sidewall modulation has been published in Photonics Research 13, 367-372 (2025) (JCR Q1). These results highlight both the simplicity and efficacy of our method in achieving flatter dispersion profiles for efficient frequency combs.
