Dr. Choi received a PhD in College of Pharmacy from Pusan National University in South Korea. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Kansas Medical Center (Dept. of Pharmacologym Toxicology and Therapeutics, and Cancer Biology) in the USA. In 2016, she joined CHA Bundang Medical Center in South Korea as a research assistant professor. Nov. 2017, she joined Prof. Zhu's Lab in School of Life and Health Sciences, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) as a research assistant professor. 

Dr. Choi focused on two important topics. The first is the role of oxidative stress and neuronal cell death on diseases of hippocampus neuronal cells. With her discovery of the specific role of each molecule in the signaling cascade, she develops neuroprotective drugs using in vitro and in vivo models. The second, she studies the mechanisms of the cell cycle, apoptosis and cell signaling pathways implicated in the chemical reactions of cancer cells and various human diseases. She has published more than 20 scientific papers related to this research.
