Dr. Genjiro Matsunaga has been teaching Japanese to Chinese students at various levels of proficiency, from beginners who are learning hiragana and katakana to advanced learners who are aiming to interpret and translate Japanese. He has been responsible for teaching interpretation and translation courses for graduate students pursuing a degree in MTI, as well as simultaneous interpretation courses for third-year undergraduate students, serving as both the main instructor and class teacher. Dr. Matsunaga has nearly 20 years of experience in teaching Japanese language courses, including conversation, listening and speaking, grammar, advanced intensive reading, composition, newspapers, business Japanese, Japanese society, and Chinese-Japanese comparative linguistics and sociolinguistics, among others. He worked as a full-time faculty member at a Chinese university for 10 years, and for 4 of those years he was employed as a permanent employee, just like Chinese teachers. Dr. Matsunaga has also mentored numerous students, many of whom have won top prizes in national Japanese language competitions, including 9 students who achieved national first place (6), second place (2), and third place (1), among other outstanding results.
