Dr. MATSUNAGA Genjiro has nearly 20 years of comprehensive experience in Japanese language education, catering to native Chinese speakers ranging from beginners learning the Japanese syllabary and kana to advanced learners aiming for proficiency in interpretation and translation. For instance, he has taught courses primarily focused on interpretation and translation for MTI (Master of Translation and Interpretation) graduate students and a third-year undergraduate simultaneous interpretation course, also serving as a homeroom teacher. He spent approximately 10 years as a full-time faculty member at Chinese universities, including 4 years as a formally appointed faculty member at Beijing International Studies University.
The courses he has taught include Japanese conversation, Japanese listening and speaking, Japanese grammar, advanced intensive reading, Japanese composition, Japanese newspaper reading, Chinese-to-Japanese translation, Chinese-to-Japanese interpretation, Japanese linguistics, business Japanese, Japanese culture, Japanese society, Chinese-Japanese comparative linguistics, and sociolinguistics, encompassing over 20 courses from foundational to applied levels. In his teaching, he strives to utilize his expertise in Chinese-Japanese comparative linguistics to educate his students.
Additionally, he has guided dozens of students in competitions, achieving outstanding results. For example, in national Japanese language competitions, 9 of his students have won top honors, including national championships (6 students), second place (2 students), and third place (1 student).
