MA Zoudan is a historian specializing in late imperial China and Chosŏn Korea. A native of Shanghai, Zoudan earned bachelor’s degrees in history and sociology from Peking University in 2013. He completed a master’s in history at the University of British Columbia in 2015, followed by a PhD in Asian Studies in 2022. He is currently writing a book on the thalassocracies in seventeenth-century Asia. Outside of work, Zoudan has been enjoying adventures with his Border Collie, Caesar, and cherishes time with his family as a husband and a new, albeit clumsy, father.
