Smart devices are everywhere and interconnected. As the waves of IoT and Smart City continue, the list of connected things extends from smart phones to fruit plants, poultry, home appliances, vehicles, lamp posts or even bridges. Objects in the ever-growing list are equipped with sensors (to sense the world), data processing units (to process the sensed data), and data transmitting units (to transfer processed data).
Much like the human society, we are interested in introducing social networks to smart objects. By creating social relationships among them, we can explore the fundamental issues of IoT and Smart City, such as human-like interactions among objects, security and privacy, from a new angle.
I am currently holding research grants supported by Shenzhen Science, Technology and Innovation Commission (STIC) & National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) to explore smart parking systems.
I am also involved in the Shenzhen Key Laboratory of IoT Intelligent Systems and Wireless Network Technology to explore IoT and Smart City applications.
