Dr. HE Jinbo is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Applied Psychology, School of Humanities and Social Science, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. His main areas of research are health psychology and quantitative research methods. In recent years, Professor HE Jinbo's research mainly focused on exploring the etiology, health consequences, and intervention strategies of eating and weight disorders in the context of Chinese culture. Professor HE Jinbo has obtained grants, as PI (Principal Investigator), from the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Guangdong Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Planning Fund, and the Shenzhen Education Planning Fund. Professor HE Jinbo has published more than 70 papers as the first or corresponding author. In recent years, Professor HE Jinbo's research papers have been published in prestigious journals in the field, such as Clinical Psychology Review, Body Image, and International Journal of Eating Disorders, and Structural Equation Modeling. Currently, Professor HE Jinbo serves as the editorial board member of the following journals: International Journal of Eating Disorders, Body Image, Eating and Weight Disorders-Studies on Anorexia, Bulimia and Obesity. And, Professor HE Jinbo also serves as the associate editor of Frontiers in Pediatrics–Pediatric Obesity. Professor He Jinbo received the 2019-2020 Presidential Exemplary Teaching Award of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.
Dr.He has two research lines:
1) Quantitative research methods
a) structural equation modeling, finite mixture modeling, psychometrics, and machine learning;
b) using advanced research methods in psychological research.
2) Health Psychology:
a) causes and health consequences of disordered eating;
b) relationships between appetitive traits and obesity;
c) media influence on eating behaviors and body image;
d) eating behaviors and body image in LGBTQ groups, pregnant women, older adults, and individuals with diabetes.
e) intervention and prevention for eating disorders, body dissatisfaction, and obesity.
