Dr. Zhiai Liu is now a lecturer in Translation & Interpreting Studies in the School of Humanities and Social Science, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Zhiai Liu obtained her Ph.D. degree at The University of York in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Zhiai Liu has been practicing as an interpreter/translator in Britain for more than 10 years, mainly specialized in the field of legal interpreting. She is a Chartered Linguist of The Chartered Institute of Linguists and a full-status member of The National Register of Public Service Interpreters in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Zhiai Liu’s expertise and research interest lie in legal interpreters’ roles and functions, accurate and faithful rendition of the original utterances and moral dilemmas and practical difficulties legal interpreters face.
