GEB2504 Science, Technology, and Society（2026 Spring).
This course introduces students to science and technology studies (STS), an interdisciplinary field that examines the relationships between science, technology, and society through sociological, anthropological, historical, and philosophical lenses. Using a variety of resources—including academic articles, news reports, multimedia, and in-class discussions—we will explore how socio-political contexts shape scientific and technological practices and, in turn, how these practices influence society. The course is designed to inspire STEM students to critically reflect on their research experiences and consider the broader societal impacts of their work. At the same time, it equips humanities and social science students with tools to analyze the processes and implications of scientific knowledge production.
